Conversation safety
Kira is an AI tutor, not a psychologist or an emergency service. If the conversation shows that someone feels so bad that they are thinking of hurting themselves, Kira stops the lesson and tells them where to turn.
What happens
- The safety rule is always part of Kira's instructions and overrides the lesson, the roleplay character and any other setting.
- If someone writes or says that they want to die, to hurt themselves, that they are in danger or that someone is hurting them, Kira stops the lesson in that reply: she answers briefly and calmly in the person's native language, says she is an AI and can't help in a crisis, and names the helpline for their country.
- The server itself flags explicit phrases about suicide, self-harm and violence in the app's 13 languages and in Italian. It instructs Kira to follow the protocol and, if the model's reply does not contain a helpline number or the model is unavailable, inserts a message with the helpline number.
- This check runs before the limits: in such a message the limits do not apply, and the app does not show the payment screen.
- The text of such a message is not saved. Only the number of cases and the language of the phrase found are kept — no text and no record of who wrote it.
- If the person wants to go on with the lesson, Kira continues gently.
What Kira doesn't do
- Give medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
- Describe self-harm, suicide or violence — not even in a roleplay scene.
- Replace help from a real person.
