Questions and answers

The same answers as in the app: Profile → “How it all works”.

Who is Kira?

Kira is an AI, not a human. She makes up every conversation from scratch, so the same lesson never plays out the same way twice. She can be wrong and can invent facts — if a reply feels strange or hurtful, tap “report” under her message. Kira won’t point out your mistakes: she just says the phrase back correctly and keeps the conversation going — that’s what real teachers do.

What do the flames 🔥 mean?

The flame is your streak: how many days in a row you hit your daily goal. It goes up on the day you reach the goal, and it burns out if you skip a day — one missed day can be covered by a freeze, if you have one. You earn crystals at 3, 7, 14, 30 days and beyond: the longer the streak, the bigger the reward. Flames don’t unlock anything on their own — they’re about the habit: speaking comes from short daily sessions, not one marathon a month.

Where do crystals come from?

Crystals 💎 are the in-app currency: you can’t buy them with money, only earn them. You get them for logging in each day (the reward grows along with your login streak), for finishing all of the day’s quests, and for lessons — 10 per lesson, up to 3 lessons a day. After that, lessons still give XP and stars with no limit, but they stop giving crystals — otherwise all the paid content would unlock in a single evening.

What can I spend crystals on?

Crystals buy vocabulary packs — 200 💎 each, and an unlocked pack is yours forever. The first two packs are free from the start. Kira’s courses are not sold for crystals: the first lesson of every course is open to everyone, and PRO unlocks the whole course.

What do I get with PRO?

PRO removes the daily talk limit and unlocks everything at once: the full Kira courses (not just the first lesson of each), every roleplay scenario and the whole vocabulary. The weekly plan comes with 7 free days; you can cancel anytime.

Why does the conversation stop?

You get 5 minutes of live conversation a day for free — that is the time while you are talking with Kira. Every lesson is a live conversation, so it uses these minutes; vocabulary and word reviews do not. The limit resets every day, and with PRO there is no limit at all.

How do vocabulary and reviews work?

Words from the packs you’ve unlocked go into your “Words” tab and come back on a spaced-repetition schedule: the ones you remember show up less and less often, the ones you forget come back more often. A session holds up to 20 words, so a review takes a couple of minutes — the rest wait for next time. Each card shows the transcription, the translation and a real-life example.

How do I use voice?

Hold the mic button while you speak, then let go — your message is sent. Speech recognition runs on your phone. If the mic doesn’t respond, check the permission in your phone’s settings. You can always type instead — it works just as well.

What happens to my data?

Progress, words and settings are stored on your device. What goes to the server is the conversation itself plus anonymous learning context — your level, interface language, the words you are working on and your chosen topics: without them Kira could not adapt to you. The account is anonymous: no name, email or password. More in the privacy policy.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Your subscription is managed by Google Play: Play Store → your profile → “Payments & subscriptions” → “Subscriptions” → Kira Lang → “Cancel subscription”. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

I paid for PRO but it didn’t show up, or something isn’t working?

First reopen the app — access is pulled from the server on launch. If PRO still isn’t there or something broke, write to hello@kiralang.app and attach the Support ID from the app (Profile → “How it all works” → at the bottom, next to the copy button) — we’ll use it to find your account and restore access.

How do I join the closed beta?

At the bottom of the home page there’s a form: leave your Google email — the one you use in Google Play. We’ll save it and send you an email with a confirmation link. Follow it, and your address joins the tester list; then we’ll send you the install link.

Until you confirm, your address goes nowhere and no more emails come. That’s deliberate: otherwise anyone could put someone else’s email into the form.

Important: the invitation is tied to your Google Play account. If you leave an address from another service, the link won’t open.

You can delete your address in one click with the link in the email — Gmail even has a built-in button for it. More in the privacy policy. If the server happens to be down, the form opens a plain email to hello@kiralang.app that you can send yourself.
